  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from LS -- Highly recommend : I really enjoyed reading Sarah’s book sharing her family’s experience. I can’t even imagine how difficult Sylvain’s passing must have been and still be for her and their family, but her desire to advocate for increased and more easily accessible services and also the work being done to help decrease the stigma around needing help to take care of your mental health is amazing. Through her family’s tragedy, Sarah has found ways to ensure her husband’s legacy and who he was as a person lives on for years to come. Sharing their story may have very well saved the lives of some and may save the lives of others in the future. I highly recommend reading this book if you get the chance to do so. So many suffer in silence and partially because so many organizations have the mentality that “it’s part of the job” so many don’t feel they can openly share their challenges. Sarah's raw account of her husband's struggle with mental illness from trauma and PTSD as an OPP officer was heart wrenching. A must read for EVERY 1st responder and their families.
